BLOGuitars: Brainstorming a Customized Guitar Mod

Okay... a bit more soberer at this point ( don't worry, I'm working on rectifying that as I type... ::SWIG:: )

So, the reason that I got INTO this site and made a membership is so that I could post on someone ELSE'S blog: Crispy's "Stagemaster Project" which you can find here: http://stagemaster.blogspot.com/

See, I picked up this guitar...

Now, I've been something of a guitarist for a good number of years. I began with Electric Bass then when I began camping more, I picked up an acoustic six string and suddenly found myself playing Irish folk music instead of heavy metal. I haven't really looked back until recently.

I miss my metal days. ::CHUG:: There's something about the crunch of a well-distorted guitar, the drive of an over driven bass and the cannonesque punctuation of a full Tama kit with double bass pedals that stirs a deeper, darker and wickedly delicious part of one's soul that acoustic folk, as much as I love it, will never be able to touch.

So when a friend of mine was bitching that his "Stupid Ibanez won't stay in tune for shit" and that he'd rather get rid of it, I was happy to consider his offer.

I'm currently in the initial stage of having the axe home for testing. Loosen this screw, tighten that nut, replace all these grubby strings. You know, a minor overhaul. So when I did a google search for word combos involving "customize" "modding" "rewire" "routing" and "guitar" I came, eventually to Crispy's blog here on Blogger.

He did such a ::GLUG-GLUG-GLUG:: wonderful job going into detail about his sucesses, failures and problem solving thru the entire project, that I wanted to tell him how much I appreciated that he BLOGGED the guitar project so that people like me could learn from it and share in his frustrations and triumphs. And, I wanted to sign my name and not just be "Anonymous"

Now, it might be that I could have done that without beoming a "Blogger" myself but, bear in mind, I was three sheets to the wind at the time so followed the process of signing up just so I could say "THANKS CRISPY!"

And now I find myself thinking... "I'VE got an entry-level guitar."

"I want to do some instrument modding."

"I have a new digital camera!"

Add to that the fact that just last week I learned reeding and riting and "HEY! I could totally do that too!"

Now, if I actually DO document this whole thing, it will be by no means to take away from the wonderful job that Crispy has done. My personal interests lean a little more to aesthetic mods whereas Crispy focused primarily on the electronics of the creature. Not to say that I won't rewire and upgrade the pickups... it would be silly not to especially with what I've learned from the Stagemaster Blog. ::SIP:: But the project will have different facets and focus so I think it could be another handy little bit of info for any other Would-be Modders out there who want to kit out their "Weapon of Choice."

Right. So it all started that I wanted to post a comment on someone else's Blog. One thing led to another and now I have this. Now, I've done a blog or two in my day (back in '48) but I'm new to... (what site is this?) Blogger-dot-com. Frankly, if you're reading this, I offer you y sincere apologies cause I'm only doing all this cause I'm half-drunk.

I'll shut up now cause I'm already boring even myself.
